Failte

Cead mile failte Na Magha Doire CLG.

We are delighted to welcome you to the website of our Club. We hope you enjoy your visit!

Na Magha was founded in 1982 and is the only Hurling & Camogie club in the City of Derry - Doire. Based in Ballyarnett at Páirc Na Magha, we have some great facilities to help us promote our national sport to a high standard.

We have both Hurling and Camogie teams from Under 6 right up to senior level.

We have just launched a major fundraising drive to improve our facilities further. The funding raised will be put to good use to build a new pitch.

Click on the 'Win a Field' Club Fundraiser page for full details. Don't be afraid to enter to be in with the chance of winning your own little piece of Ireland.

 Welcome from our Chair

On behalf of everyone at the club, you are very welcome to the website of Derry City’s only Hurling and Camogie Club, Na Magha CLG.

In 2018, Hurling was recognised by UNESCO as a key element of Ireland's living heritage and was added to their Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

On achieving this recognition, Uachtarán Chumann Lúthchleas Gael, John Horan stated “we owe a debt of gratitude to the generations of people who preserved, protected and promoted the game at school, club and county levels so that it would survive and thrive for our benefit”.

There is nowhere in Ireland where the games of hurling and camogie needed more preserving,  more protecting and more promotion than in Derry City.

Indeed, it was with exactly this in mind that Na Magha was formed in 1982. Thanks to the tireless work of our volunteers, we now have a permanent home at the Beautiful Páirc Na Magha in Ballyarnett Country Park where more children are playing hurling and camogie than at any time in the last century.

As the proverb goes, Great oaks from little acorns grow.

We are fiercely proud of what has been achieved to date but know that to continue to grow, to continue to serve our community, we need your help. Every penny that comes into our club goes directly towards supporting our vision of preserving, protecting, and promoting a key element of Ireland's living heritage, the fastest, the most skillful, and best game on earth.

With this in mind, we ask you to support our fundraising initiatives,  teams, games, events, sponsors, facilities, and everything that goes towards the running of Na Magha CLG.

Your generosity is sincerely appreciated. GRMA.

Na Magha Abu.
